And that's all she wrote or so Max would say. Although she protected herself from the speeding truck, in doing so she had revealed that she was indeed a mutant and therefore marking herself as a target. Not only that, facts would be misconstrued, made to look like she had killed the nonexistent driver. This was easily an offense that would land a mutant in jail for the rest of their life or at least until they were put down by a firing squad. Either way, Max had orchestrated the entire event to the very last detail. After all, once you corner a rat, all they can do is bear their fangs and scratch at any threat coming their way. The same applied with this rat.
He had cornered her and forced her to use her powers in public, basically broadcasting the fact that she was not only a mutant but a lawbreaker as well. It was a done deal. That's what happens when you cross his path and harms the one who matters the most to him. The only thing left to do was to access one of the nearby computers of a police squad car and then send a mass message to the other squad cars in order to hone into her area.
And within mere moments it was done. Every police officer in the area would be looking for a young woman with short black hair, blue eyes, tattered clothes and sits at a height of around five foot one to five foot three. There wouldn't be much of a search, considering he included the coordinates of her current location to each dashboard computer. And so, sirens would be heard, two cop cars closing in from either end of the street. Others were on their way, but these were the two closest squad cars to the area, each had been only a mere two blocks away.
What were they looking for? A powerful, dangerous mutant girl who had killed an innocent driver in the middle of a working class neighborhood.
"Checkmate." Max said, quite pleased with himself. Although he may have been putting others at risk with his well calculated move, he also thought that having her apprehended seemed less dangerous than having her on the streets. She seemed unstable, strange and powerful all the same.
Max would simply hover a couple blocks away from the street in question, just above one of the higher up buildings. From there, he could see it all. The world was his chess board, the humans were his pawns and he was in the invincible king. And Elizabeth, she'd be his queen.

Elizabeth couldn't help other than to feel sorry for the girl down there running from the car as her brother tried to mow her over. Still, the girl shouldn't have stolen her food. That wasn't right in the first place. So maybe the girl deserved what was coming for her. Elizabeth didn't have much right to judge. That much she knew.
Still, as they continued to move, Elizabeth noted that police cars were starting to show up. It seemed to her that things were getting even worse than either she or Max could have anticipated. It'd make mutants as a whole look bad. This was the type of thing her father would have tried to avoid.
"Max, should we help her? There are police down there. You know what they'd do to her in prison? She'd never get out."

"Aide! Quelqu'un ! Quiconque!"
Two cop cars came from opposite ends, accelerating towards the girl as she ran as fast as she could down the road. She skipped and almost tripped to a stop as she realized she was cornered- again. Her eyes bulged like a frightened deer in headlights. What the hell was going on? Why was this happening?
***********flashback***********
"Doctor."
The young seven year old girl stared forward and spoke in a monotonous voice as a man in a white coat zipped up her tight black body suit which she wore on missions. The man continued on his work, strapping on her weapons in a trance like state. They were in the training room and she was to test out a new weapon. His eyes were wide with insanity, and his head of white hair was an absolute mess. This look did make him look insane, but nobody would figure out he was actually a decent man. He taught Charlotte about the ways of the world.
"Yes, Charlotte?"
Charlotte smiled at the sound of her name. Most doctors and agents called her "mutant" or "experiment" or "supernova," as was her government code name.
"Why can't I go outside to play?"
"Because the world is filled with cruel and dangerous people who want to hurt you and kill you. That's why you always have to stay in here and play in the lab, like a good girl. And you know you can't play until you finish your 'homework'."
"What's my homework tonight, Doctor?"
The man looked up from his completed task of dressing her with a crazy grin on his face. He walked away from the girl towards a large computer. The screen popped up an image and information on a very muscular looking man.
"Knucklerot, he calls himself. Refuses to wear his tracking device and continuously causes havoc for the policemen of the City of New York. Honest men simply trying to do an honest job. It does not appear as if the X-men are doing anything about this, either. As you know, justice must be served. Your homework tonight is to bring that man back here, dead or alive."
"Dead or alive," Charlotte repeated at the same time as the Doctor, with a sweet smile on her face. "Can we get ice cream after this Doctor?" She asked eagerly, which was only a slight raise in volume of her voice. "You promised last time we would."
Doctor placed a strange, robotic like mask over the young girl's face. The eyes lit up in a red like color when he pushed a tiny button on the side. He frowned at the young girl and patted her helmet almost endearingly. Taking in his face, Charlotte frowned also.
"Not tonight, I'm afraid. Tonight we have more experiments for you, Charlotte. They'll help you become stronger and have you go about getting your missions finished much quicker. That way you can have more time to play. You'd like that wouldn't you? We can go after your next mission."
"Do you promise?"
"I promise.... Now. Try out that new canon I made for you. I am curious to see the results after so many months of work."
Charlotte examined the large canon strapped to her left arm. The Doctor had explained its purpose several days ago. It was supposed to enhance her power. She lifted the gun and aimed it at a test dummy one hundred yards away. And charged a plasma bomb onto the palm of her hands. The canon immediately activated and looked as if it were gathering energy from the air. The Doctor said something about absorbing Plasma particles from the air. He said many scientific things about how the world was filled with them and she stopped listening, not being very interested in the science of it all. The canon crackled with the energy it absorbed. She released the energy from her hand and the canon shot fire. The bomb seeped with blue flames and was surrounded in blue lightning. When the shot hit the dummy, a large explosion with an outer layer which appeared to look much like her force fields was the result. Her body shook with sheer excitement and her eyes widened in delight. Without a single trace of a smile on her face.
"This is the best gift ever."
"I'm glad you like it, Charlie. Jour heureux de votre naissance."
Behind the man's coat he held a device. He clicked the device on which caused the mind control chip in the back of her neck to activate.
***********************************
"Ahhh!"
Charlotte grasped her head as the sudden memory hit her brain like a tidal wave, causing her head to pound in terrible pain. The policemen were not slowing down. The car coming up from behind her reached her first and it hit her head on. She slammed onto the hood of the car and her back rolled against the window. Her body went airborne as she hit the lights on top of the police car, killing their lights. The police car came to a stop as her body slammed against the pavement face first. She let out a brief shout of pain as the wind was knocked out of her.
Charlotte curled up as she writhed in pain. She clenched her teeth as she tried to suppress a groan, but failed to do so. She might have been stronger and faster than normal humans, but that was enough to kill a normal man. The policeman, John, who had run the girl over, had gotten out of the police car and was aiming a gun straight down at her head. The policeman, Bob, from the second police car had also removed himself from his vehicle and was walking with a furious rage with a baton in his hand.
John was about to raise the walkie talkie to his mouth to let all units know that the mutant had been captured when Bob suddenly reached out and stopped him from doing that.
"C'mon, John, Buddy, don't you wanna have a little fun with this one? Besides. It won't matter if she dies. She's nothing but a lowly street rat... No one will miss this monster."
Charlotte was too busy dealing with her pain, she couldn't even see or hear a thing. Her vision was swimming around and she was fighting hard against unconsciousness... for control. Blood seeped out through her nose, mouth and ears. She was covered in bleeding cuts and even more bruises. She needed to get away.
Bob's baton was raised high and he brought it down on the girl over and over and over again. The girl convulsed helplessly against the hits as she lay there on the ground. Until Bob's baton was snatched out of his own hand and slammed against his face, breaking his nose and knocking him out. John immediately began to shoot but Charlotte put up her force field as she charged the man. The bullets fell on the ground uselessly. She smacked the gun from the man's grip as she allowed the man to pass through her force field. He winced and screamed in pain but the girl pressed her palm against his jaw, closing his mouth, and banged his head against his force field. The electricity of the force field caused the man to shake uncontrollably, as if having a seizure, and pass out.
"Pitiful humans...."
Charlotte kept the baton for 'safe-keeping'. She stuck it in her pants, the handle sticking out. She began to slap the dirt from her own clothing.
"Ugh, I'm disgusting. I definitely need a bath after this. Oh, well. Better get the hell out of here. But before I go...."
Charlotte smiled deviously as she looked up to the sky, pin-pointing the helicopter. She glared at it for a moment and then chuckled to herself. She could take them out of the sky so easily. She could use lightning. The lightning would be drawn to the metal machine and all of its electrically wired equipment. The lightning would hit home of its own accord, because it would be so easily attracted to it. And that is what she would do. She raised her hand into the air, aiming it at the helicopter. A bright blue flame shot out of her left eye. Lightning began to twist and coil around the girl like lively snakes. Her hair rose up slightly on her head. A few seconds of charging, she thought it would be enough... and she released a large lightning bolt into the general direction of the helicopter. The electrical field around the helicopter would cause all of the machinery to go haywire, and they would lose control of the flying machine quickly.
Charlotte laughed gleefully and that is when she took her leave. Many of the bystanders had already fled the scene, and the streets were now only mostly deserted, except for the sounds of sirens that filled the night sky. More police were coming. She confidently skipped over to a nearby alleyway. There, she found a sewage pipe which was covered by a round piece of metal. She kicked the metal inward and gingerly squeezed in through the hole. Her small size would make this very easy. Ignoring the grime and slime on the ladder, she climbed down into the darkness of the sewers.
Oh, the baton said, Don't worry about him, my young friend, he was growing bothersome young friend, so bothersome, I thank you dearly my dear, young friend for taking him out, yes, I loved him, but it did feel good to have a feel of his face, yes, and maybe I'll get a feel of someone else before the night is through, because you see, my previous owner fed me well....
Charlotte smiled as she heard the baton's song playing merrily in her head as she scampered through the dirty waters of the sewer, ignoring the pain that coursed through her body from her injuries.

The scene below was anything but good. The situation that played out was nothing short of horrific, yet Max remained calm and cool-headed about it all. Despite the fact that he had instigated the intervention of the police, he believed it was ultimately that rogue mutant who was to blame. She needed to be stopped, to be caged up like an animal.
Either way, the girl looked their direction, a lightning bolt soon following after that murderous gaze. It had struck the tail rotor and before he knew it, the whole helicopter spun around violently. Rather than attempt to regain control, he simply jumped from the rope ladder they hung onto and onto the building top they had been hovering above.
The jump was short, the danger being quite low as long as he properly rolled as he hit the concrete. And he did just that. Hopefully, Elizabeth was smart enough to do the same. With the last ounce of control left in the helicopter, he'd attempt to crash it into an empty lot. Maybe they'd get lucky and no one would die.

The tail of the helicopter had been hit, and the helicopter was going to go down relatively soon. This didn't leave Elizabeth with much time to get to safety as it quickly seemed to turn into an "every man for him or herself" situation when her brother jumped out of the vehicle. Where to go was the biggest question. The spinning of the helicopter left her a bit disoriented. She couldn't quite figure out where to hop otu.
Her brother had left first, but finding a safe place wasn't exactly easy. However, as the helicopter got closer to the ground, she found herself with limited options. She jumped off of the helicopter, sending her body rolling on the ground like a ragdoll at a rather fast pace, though in this empty parking lot, luckily she wouldn't hurt anyone else.
She had gotten out of the helicopter just in time though, as it would be sent tumbling before exploding a good 25 meters away from Elizabeth. Elizabeth rolled onto her back in pain. Her body had been injured with cuts and bruises from the fall.
"Ugh."

"There's a ditch in the world
A great, huge ditch
that's filled with the vermin and the sons of a bitch,
And it goes by the name of New York.
On top of the ditch, oh there's a wealthy few
Who spit in the face of those who
Climb to the top, they're kicked in the face,
And sent spiraling back into the disgusting place.
It goes by the name of New York."
The girl chanted this as she staggered through the sewers, past the curious eyes of the rats that were as big as dogs. Her voice echoed, somehow overpowering the stench of the sewer that flowed next to him. Her dazzling blew eyes were practically glowing in the darkness. Her merry pace slowed down and suddenly, the playful and slightly demented look she carried on her face disappeared. She froze in the middle of the sewers, the disgusting waters reaching up to her knees. Her face turned into utter confusion. How the hell did she get down here? The last thing she remembered was....
Charlotte flinched as she recalled the policemen beating her up after running her over. The pain she ignored before now screamed at her brain and she hugged herself and bent over in pain, tears forming in her eyes. She gasped as she tried to gain control over herself. There was nothing that she could remember between now and then. It was a little bit of a scary thought, and she wondered what had happened and how she managed to get away. They must not be too far behind.
Charlotte forced herself to move on.
