WRAITH
Real Name: Fritz Stahl
Alias: Wraith, Him.
Birthday: Jan. 13th
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 6'3''
Blood Type: O
Affiliation: Division
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Hometown: New York
Nationality: Germany
Powers and Abilities:
- Cyborg: Most of Fritz's body has been replaced with cybernetics in order to keep him functioning and preserving him alive. His left half of the body, and right arm and leg are made of metal, prostheses of sorts. He is literally more machine than man, and being such gives him a vast array of advantages. Those are:
- Enhanced physical abilities: Enhanced strength, reaction times, accuracy and agility - thanks to cybernetics. Is strong enough to lift a heavy truck, run to 60 km per hour, and use weapons and fight with ability far superior to average human.
- Deadshot: Exactly what it says on the tin. Very, very deadly with guns.
Appearance: Fritz is a rather imposing and very tall man. He towers above all the others with his 6'3'', Despite the height however, his frame could be considered rather ... lean, so he doesn't look like a walking closet, neither is a huge guy, well, not when in his suit however. His eyes, are blue, or better to say, his remaining eye, black hair is always combed - he keeps it in good shape, and, what else can be noticed, is that his skin is very pale, as if he rarely goes outdoors, thus limiting his contact with the sun. Truth is that this is correct, to a degree...
Most noticeable part of his appearance is his face, or half of his face to be exact. It is replaced with grayish metal, a glowing red eye instead of normal one. This distorts the otherwise rather attractive face, giving it a creepy and frightening look. The never-disappearing smirk adds to that impression. The cybernetics, however, are put together very carefully though, so one might not notice where the border between flesh and metal goes - no ugly scars there or whatever. One might also notice he's wearing gloves and that his feet make a very heavy sound upon stepping - both arms and legs are replaced with cybernetics also.
Fritz has two suits - one for missions and one for ... say, leisure time, which he usually spends in whatever place he is staying. The former transforms the man into a lean mean killing machine - an exoskeleton black armor from tip to toe, red eyes burning from under the helmet, and a heavy rifle in hands - the sight is indeed frightening, as it should have been.
The latter is somewhat ... different. A blueish military-style trenchcoat, always in good shape, looking fancy and somewhat expensive - Fritz hates being enclosed in that shell of his costume, he says it makes him feel so metal. It has no special abilities, and grands nothing, other than looking good.
Battle-suit:
Personality:Fritz has a very ... serene personality, to say the least. There is absolutely nothing that can wipe that weird smile of his face, and make those blank eyes of his show at least a little bit of emotion behind them. He'll look with the same ... gleeful expression on his own birthday cake, or at a dead body.
His manner of speech is polite, but it is not easy to talk to him because of his blank and emotionless voice. It creeps people out and kills any sort of desire to continue discussion. He often notices that people act that way, and often states that he is not the paragon of a good conversationalist, and that it "saddens him". People find it hard to believe, since the latter is said without changing anything in intonation, at all. However, if you keep talking to him, he will keep talking to you. And he will keep talking to you as long as you listen. If you listen, he tends to drift to his memories, whatever he got left of those.
He is aware of his situation, and often remarks on it. He keeps saying words that could be considered bitter with never changing expression or intonation, however, there are times when something goes haywire in his robotic part of the brain, and the blank expression on his face shifts to a severe and serious one, as well as the voice. This happens a couple of times per day, and is able to surprise people who do not know him well. These "quirks" last from half of an hour to an hour, and as he says himself, "he kinda likes when they happen".
Fritz doesn't like being alone. Strangely enough, he really doesn't. When he is left alone he has a habit of wandering around, calling out "Hello?" and "Who's there?" When he finds someone, he always thanks them for their presence, and apologizes for the inconvenience. This is part of the reason everyone avoids him - because that is creepy.
He has a hobby of sitting in the park in his free time, feeding the birds, or just wandering around, mostly at night. He doesn't get trouble from anybody, but is sometimes mistaken for some sort of a mutant. Still, there are not many who dare saying something or doing something against this tower of a man, with a glowing red eye and a metallic half of the face.
Fritz shines in combat though. He follows order to the letter, is a cunning and proficient combatant, good tactician, perfect sharpshooter. He is a menace to any kind of opponent. His job for now, is to capture and bring in unregistered mutants, and kill dangerous ones. He does that well.
He doesn't hate mutants like most though, not at all. If what he says is true, he kind of ... pities them. Like whenever he has to incapacitate or kill a mutant, he always says that "he is very sorry, but it must be done". Or "just following orders". He works for Division, because he was told to. According to him, "he doesn't like it very much, but there is no other place to go."
History:
Fritz was born in Berlin, Germany, to a family of ... soldiers, yes you guessed it. His father was a military sniper, and his mother - a nurse in one of the hospitals. Both held their professions in very high regard, and both firmly believed that sometimes people had to take arms in order to defend themselves and what they believed in. Both patriots, and the child was growing up just like them - with a dream to serve in the armed forces, while most of his friends and classmates were more interested in more ... trivial things. Fritz cared naught. he was preparing himself to his future profession - both mentally and physically. Father helped a lot, and upon becoming 18 young german signed into Peacekeeping Corps, willing to serve the people and the world in most hot spots. Superheroes were not able to solve everything, they were a few, so grunts were needed just as much...
After undergoing rigorous training, which he aced thanks to his preparations before - run 15 km in full ammunitions without rest? Sure! Shoot a bird in the eye mid-flight from an unstable platform? No problem. The instructors highly commended Fritz as one of the most promising snipers ever to undergo their training. The command listened to these instructions, and assigned the young soldier into one of the most hot spots... Afghanistan. The never-ending warzone, where it was impossible to achieve a lasting peace, through any means...
Fritz served there excellently, as the instructors assumed - quickly surpassing others in his class as a sniper, becoming famous among the troops, and becoming the fear of terrorists, who gave him a threatening nickname "Wraith of the Sands". H spend days hunting in the mountains, growing to know them as if they were his own, ambushing the bandit parties (!), something unbelievable, for it was usually the other way around. Head count already went above 150 eliminations, and was about to be promoted to something important, maybe even offered a position among the elite task forces, but ...
A very unfortunate accident, if it could be called that way. The terrorists were fed up with a lone sniper eliminating their leaders, field commanders and soldiers, and opened a literal manhunt on the Wraith, something unheard before, that the bandits would consider a simple soldier their personal enemy. They wanted to take horrible revenge for this one... and they managed to get it. A crafty land mine ensured it...
The blinding pain came without warning, as an explosion went under his feet, Fritz lost consciousness without even realizing what was going on. A trip wire, of all things... such a stupid thing to die... But the worst thing was that he didn't die... He, his legs torn off, was in the dry mountains ... alone...
Fritz, who was more a meaty husk than a man, was a few weeks after he was injured by an allied party. It was such a happy day for him, who almost lost his mind because of horrible pain, and anguish. The ordeals broke him time and again, he was barely a person he used to be - psychological trauma leaving a deep scar, inducing many side-effects: breakdowns, ticks, a severe case of amnesia... You name it he had it. Still, the ruthless command though ... he could be used.
Fritz was offered to be sent to a secret laboratory somewhere in New York, to take part in a secret project known as "Cyber Soldier". It had in mind for the subject to undergo extensive cybernetics in order to become ultimate killing machines. There, he was worked upon day and night, and in the end, emerged the person we know now. Little to nothing remaining of his original self, part of his brain activity moderated by computer implanted in his brain, and with various programs they implanted in him, like code for loyalty and whatnot. This was the first in line of their experiments. Why they needed such troopers? Again, the answer was paranoia. Fear that if mutants take over, there would be no one to stop them. Government did not trust even mutants working for them. They wanted to replace them eventually, to avoid the risk. And to test out their newest "toy", they have assigned Fritz for Division, to see how well he performs, and to keep an eye on the mutants.
Inventory:
- - ECS - 13 (acr. exoskeleton combat suit) - the black bodysuit Wraith wears, it is top-notch state of the art armor defense system. Designed to protect against virtually anything - chemical and natural hazards, EMP pulses, electricity, all sorts of weaponry, to enhance the wearer's perceptions, speed and agility, uses are many. The helmet sports all sorts of scanners, has a radar, navigation build-in system, commlink, allows various sorts of vision, etc... the armor itself is able to stop bullets of any rifle caliber, and makes the user practically invincible in close quarters against anything short of super-strong blows. It almost feels like this was made to make an ordinary man able to stand against a superhuman...
- - BHS - type sniper rifle - 50 cal. sniper rifle he uses. Is able to punch through anything short of armored plating.
- - Hand-gun - in case things get rough. This thing is almost overpowered for its size, being able to punch through armored glass easily.
- - Twin wrist-blades - should things get close and personal, Wraith uses these with frightening efficiency. Though he's a sniper, he's a very apt swordsman, his costume and cybernetics helping him much in this. These things are really sharp, made of a composite alloy, which was tempered to be able to go through solid concrete like through butter.
- - Sticky mines (3 pieces) - to cover critical approach points - these things are small, and use an invisible beam in a way a signalization system uses, to blow anyone who passes by in chunks of salsa.
- - EMP grenades (2) - V-6 Haywire Emp grenade - a very potent type of device created for special forces in order to take out electronics of military-grade protection. These grenades were calibrated so that it would cause massive electrical disruptions to a circuitry. When used against organic beings, the effectiveness of the grenade is reduced. Nevertheless, it is still capable of electrocuting and any organisms within the blast radius. Fritz's new-gen combat suit is immune to its effects.
- - C4 explosives (2) - very potent and powerful explosives used by the military and demolitions experts everywhere. A directed blast of that thing can blast a hole through a tank's armor, any door or wall. Cannot be detonated by fire, electrical discharge, is not neutralized by water. Is activated via remote detonation.
- - "Hazard grenades" (2) - grenades to be used like smoke-screen to cover escape. The "smoke" however, is very toxic, and prolonged exposure will result in death. Acts like a smoke screen, a chem-weapon and tear gas at the same time.
- - Grappling hooks and other gear - used to scale walls and whatnot.
- - Jet-pack - for getting airborne for short while, used for quick escape or to surprise an opponent who got too close.
